VI - FOREIGN LABOR

6.1. Visas

For entry into Brazil, a foreigner must obtain a visa abroad from the Brazilian consulate nearest to the foreigner's residence and have it annotated in the passport.

6.2. Categories of Visas

Visas have the following categories: (a) transit; (b) tourist; (c) temporary; (d) permanent; (e) official and (f) diplomatic.

The most appropriate visas for a foreigner intending to work in Brazil are the temporary or permanent visas.

6.3. Temporary Visa

A temporary visa is for:

I - cultural travel or study mission for up to two (2) years;

II - business travel for up to five (5) years with stays of 90 days per year;

III - artists or sports figures for up to 90 days; etc.

6.4. Permanent Visa

A permanent visa is granted to foreigners that come to Brazil definitively to perform a position with management powers established in the bylaws or articles of association. In this case, the company abroad that sends the foreigner must evidence an investment in the Brazilian company of at least US$ 200,000.00 or, if the foreigner is Argentine, US$ 100,000.00. The investment must be registered with the Central Bank of Brazil.
